Keith Rivers to NE talk heating up

Meh I don't think NE takes a LB early. Never have. Bill Belichick doesn't operate that way.
-
Rivers fits what they want though in a linebacker ... he is in their range.
They aren't taking OL there. Not taking a WR there obviusly. What else could they take? Has to be either ILB (Rivers only opition) or CB.2014-2015 Kentucky Wildcats (38-1)
Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.

I think it's a corner.
I know he's in their range, but Belichick has a strict philosophy about linebackers.
They lost two CBs this offseason and didn't really replace them. At LB, they lost Colvin (who still might be re-signed) but added Victor Hobson the other day.

No it's not a lock, just Rivers at No. 7 goes against everything Belichick believes in.

Matt: so if NE doesn't draft CB then what position will they draft?
Matt: since you say it isn't a lock
Walt: i could see Rivers there
Matt: LOL
Walt: i dont think it'll happen tho
Matt: "it goes against everything belicheck believes in"
Walt: it does
Matt: well
Walt: we dont know what he's thinking
Matt: i said it was a "sleeper" pick
Walt: maybe he really likes him
Matt: i know this
Matt: i know their OL was really really good for 18 games
Matt: and i know they don't really need anything other
than ILB and CB
Walt: TE
Matt: so Rivers and CB are the only two positions I see in that draft range
Walt: but yeah i hear ya
Matt: not at #7
Walt: i know
Matt: ya
Matt: i can't find one scenario where it makes sense for a
team to trade up to #7
Matt: i really think no chance the top 7 picks are traded
Walt: well
Walt: if Ellis is falling
Matt: ?
Walt: and Baltimore doesnt want to trade
Matt: how is he falling?
Walt: if he makes it past KC
Matt: yeah
Matt: so
Matt: NYJ run a 3-4
Matt: NE runs a 3-4
Matt: BAL runs a 3-4
Matt: all those teams have their NT
Walt: if someone wants to jump over Cincy
Matt: yeah
Matt: with Baltimore
Walt: and Balt doesnt wanna trade
Matt: LOL
Walt: NE is the next-best option
Matt: why would they not want to trade
Matt: okay
Walt: maybe they want Matt Ryan, who knows,
sometimes teams don't want to
Matt: who wants matt ryan?
Matt: other than baltimore
Walt: who really knows who wants Matt Ryan, we're not
inside their offices
Matt: no
Matt: but i do the research
Walt: you can't research what you can't find
Matt: only desitinations i see for ryan's range is: ATL,
BAL, CHI, MIN, and TB
Matt: lol
Matt: i know carolina likes matt moore
Matt: who else really needs a QB?
Matt: the answer is no one
Walt: i know
Matt: okay
Matt: ??????????
Walt: but if they really like him, they may not want to
risk it
Walt: if they move down to 12
Matt: oh
Matt: ?
Matt: wait what?
Walt: and Chicago goes up to 11, let's say
Walt: if they REALLY like Ryan they'll take him at 8
Matt: why would they trade up ahead of the broncos?
Walt: no if Denver moves up after Balt moves down
Matt: why would denver move up?
Walt: like if Balt-Den trade
Matt: oh
Walt: Sedrick Ellis
Matt: yeah i mapped that one out i think
Walt: so Balt is at 12 right
Matt: ya
Matt: but
Walt: and let's say they want Matt Ryan
Matt: who?
Walt: balt
Matt: yeah chicago isn't trading up
Matt: they can't affrod it walter
Matt: u know that
Walt: if they really want him they will do whatever it
takes
Walt: i think it would be a dumb move
Matt: they have too many needs to really want him
Walt: not true
Matt: ?
Matt: QB, RB, WR, TE, OL
Matt: like every offensive position they can't give up a
3rd round pick to get ryan
Walt: if they really want him, and believe he can be the
best QB in franchise history, they'll do whatever it takes
Walt: a 3rd-round pick to get what they might think
could be the best QB in a Bears uniform ever?
Matt: i mean okay maybe tampa bay trades 1st round
picks from 2009 and 2010 to get ryan
Matt: if they think he is destined for the HOF
Walt: thats what i'm saying, Chicago might think that
Walt: and maybe Baltimore thinks that too
Matt: okay
Matt: BUT
Walt: so why would Balt risk it
Matt: back on subject
Matt: back on subject
Walt: whats the subject?
Matt: thishas nothing to do with NE
Walt: yeah it does
Walt: because if Denver wants Ellis
Walt: and Balt doesn't want to trade
Walt: Denver can go to NE
Walt: who will happily move down
Matt: denver can't afford to trade up that high
Walt: you can always make something work
Walt: it's just one more slot
Walt: maybe NE wants to move down so badly they wont
mind losing some TVC points
Matt: okay
Matt: less expensive than i thoughtt according to TVC
Matt: u could be onto something

LOL
It's not that difficult...
I don't think the Pats take Rivers.
But would it surprise me? Maybe a little bit, but I wouldn't fall off my couch.
Like he's in what you would define as "range," I just don't think NE goes that way.
