Why is everyone jumping on the Jake Long bandwagon. Not like just because players are negociated with they will be the #1 Pick. Parcells gave Long's agent a deadline to agree to their terms. Isnt that a little odd. If he was their choice there would be no deadline and it would be an ongoing discussion between Agent and team. That shows me the discussions aren't serious and they are using it as a smoke screen.

John Beck is their guy moving forward and they need to provide him with the necessary pieces to be successful; one those being a LT. Vernon Carey does a nice job there but he's better as a RT. Chris Long and Vernon Gholston are options but Jason taylor is there and they can find a 3-4 OLB after round one.

Unfortunately I heard last week on ESPN they were working on a buyout for Taylor. They making room for someone.

Actually it tells me they are very serious about Jake #1 overall. The reason for the deadline is they want the pick signed before the draft. If they can't sign Jake to a practical deal, they are levaing themselves an open window to jump down to Dorsey or Gholston and still ahving time to work out a contract with them befroe the draft...

Taylor said he's playing in Miami or he's not playing at all so why would they be working no a buyout?

Tyrell Johnson to the Jets at pick 36?! What's the logic behind this one?

The Jets need someone capable to play next Rhodes and Johnson is arguably the best safety in the draft

Well to start isn't Johnson a SS? Can he play FS in the NFL? I have no idea.

2nd point I'd like to make is the Jets have a platoon of Abram Elam who played ok last year flashed some potential, and Eric Smith whom myself and Mangini are high on as the future starting FS. He was a 3rd round pick in 2006. His playing time was like 1/3 of Elam's at FS but was growing toward the end of the year. He is a really smart player who made some great pass breakups on deep passes and passes over the middle during 07. I think he's fine against the run too. Not as good as Elam, but still solid. Smith is much better against the pass than Elam so combine that with his pass defensive skills and knowledgable play and I think we already found our future FS.

If I pick for the Jets with that board I'd personally take Hardy at #36.

Tyrell played both SS and FS in college. I strongly believe he has the ability to do so at the next level as well. It will be most beneficial for him to be put at one spot and work on his weaknesses there rather than having him move back and forth

4 out of your top 10 picks are extremely unlikely to occur.

Jake Long is not going to Miami. Everyone who thinks so should shut up.
Branden Albert is not going to KC, not with Clady on the board. This is worse than Jake Long to Miami.
Vernon Gholston is going to have to play OLB at New England, and they don't like taking linebackers early on.
And Derrick Harvey at #9 is a titanic reach.
