  • Chiefs Shopping DE Jared Allen

First I wanna say Adam Schefter is awesome. He is always the first to report this and he is usually correct in what he reports.

EDIT: Maybe Jay Glazer reported it first I dunno now, either way Schefter is da man.

The Chiefs are willing to listen to trade offers for Jared Allen, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter and FoxSports.com. He is visiting Minnesota on Friday and is expected to visit Tampa next Friday.

"Allen is one of the five most valuable defensive players in the NFL, so any trade for him would be a blockbuster. It's a curious move by the Chiefs, who placed the franchise tag on Allen. They can rebuild with draft picks, but they are admitting they can't afford to keep their top talent. Allen will likely require a huge contract, a first-round pick, and probably more for any interested suitors. Minnesota has a higher first round pick than Tampa and is likely the favorite. Look for a trade on or before draft day."

a trade would have to happen before the draft. Whoever gets him would have to workout a contract before the trade was final.

Ya, especially with the draft rounds shorter. I'd like him in Minnasota. Then they could grab a QB

I wonder how much he is asking for and if teams will be willing to part with a 2nd rounder or higher.

I'm thinking if they do in fact trade him that they might wind up picking Gholston or Long if one is still on the board at #5. Boo.

It may hinge on that fact. If they aren't there, then maybe they keep him and get a compensatory next year. It'll probably be a 3rd or 4th rounder.

I would love for MN to trade for him, give up like 5 1st rd picks *cough* hershel walker, or one of his personalities *cough* and then pay him Berrian money or higher to ruin thier team for years to come!

So if Allen gets trade, that would mean KC is offically rebuilding. So would Gonzo be next on the market? I'm pretty sure don't doesn't have enough years left to make it through a rebuilding process and I would assume he wants a Super Bowl.

If they were rebuilding the wouldnt or shouldnt have given LJ all that money. Especially after they used and abused him like a $2 hooker on a Navy ship.

I doubt he is traded before the draft at this point. Most teams are all ready cap strapped until they get some of their rookie pool back and cut some players from their rosters to make cap space.

If he was to get traded it would probably be more likely for another player and maybe a late round selection depending on the value. With current players like Chad Johnson, Lito Sheppard, Pacman Jones and possibly Detroit's Roy Williams and Cleveland's Derrick Anderson publicly or secretly on the block, a player for player deal may be worked out.

Browns could ship the rest of their draft out for him. Hell I doubt they will get any future starters of his quality out of this Draft anyway.
