  • With The ** Pick The **** Select Quenton Groves

Rumors are swirling after the Cleveand Browns had Quentin Groves in for a personal workout with the team that Phil Savage may trade Derek Anderson to get into the late first round to draft him.

Possibilities include San Fransisco, Minnesota, and heaven forbid Tampa Bay.

Absolutely no way they trade Anderson after signing him to such a lucrative contract.

Yea I have trouble believing this rumor as well.

The Browns for all intensive purposes had their 08 draft already.

      Brady Quinn
      Corey Williams
      Shaun Rodgers

      not shabby.

Savage is known for draft day deals. Who knows what goes through his mind.

What cap hit would they take for trading Anderson now that he is signed to that deal? Wont that all hit the cap either this year or next? That makes no sense since Brady hasnt proven crap.

Me too... but I'd rather see Quinn traded to the Vikings over Anderson.

WFB Comments on Vikings @ Steelers Game Rigging
PuppyPuncher:"It sure was nice enough of Roger Goodell to let the refs from Ark-Florida officiate the Vikings-Steelers game"
NoNonsenseCoach:"As a Steelers fan living in Pittsburgh I can still admit that tripping penalty was a complete ghost call."
Simonds:"The tripping call was awful, yes, but there were a number of other absurd calls that went against the Vikings, including a DEFENSIVE delay of game penalty against the Vikings only called after a failed attempt to convert a third and 2 by the Steelers. Even the commentators were utterly floored that the refs made that call."
Wraith36444:"A shady tripping call on Minnesota essentially gave the game to the Steelers. The Vikings were the better team, but it is too hard to beat a decent team and the refs. Oh and Harvin is the man."
MaineMan:"I have to agree that it was an awful call and that it changed the outcome. Overall a great game by the Vikes and tragic that the well-deserved victory was stolen away like that."
PaddyPatriot:"I've seen this play and I have to agree, I can't believe they called it tripping"
Johndoe:"You know the officiating is bad when a Steeler's fan, like myself, thinks it was pretty bad."
Steelers_Pens_Fan:"I will admit that the whole "tripping" thing probably shouldn't have been a flag."
ZN0rseman:"It's great to know that good old fashioned pro football game rigging is still alive and well in America."
Klunker18:"I'm with Z on this one. Definitely one of those games that makes you wonder if the NFL wants certain teams to win."
TRICKaz"I agree that was a BS call"
InjuredReserve:"Have yet to hear anyone say it was the right call. Seems as if the Vikings were cheated a bit."
Eagles4Life:"Coaches just need to be able to challenge penalties"
EL_Guapo:"The tripping call was bad, the delay of game was stupid Either way, the Vikings showed they are a top team."
              EllijayFalconsFan:"The tripping penalty was rediculous."
Archon095:"Even as a Steeler fan I agree that the call was bull."
BroncosCon:"I'm sorry that was a total bull**** call and it changed the outcome of the game. Pittsburgh still won, but it was almost like Denver winning at Cincy."

Tony Dungy:"The Vikings are just one bad tripping penalty away from being undefeated.
Jon Gruden:"That was just a bad, bad call. It cost the Vikings an important win at Pittsburgh, and it could really hurt them in the post season."

Drum you need to go to my profie and read everything I have posted on Derek Anderson over the last couple months. You will see why Cleveland would be wise to make the deal. I hit that topic so hard it is like beating a dead horse now.

So the most you get for Anderson is Groves. Is that really worth it? Shouldn’t he be given another year to see if he can be a real player and a productive winning quarterback in the NFL. There is nothing more valuable than that. I know people try looking at it logically by saying you have Quinn so why not get another first round pick. That’s not logical to me. There is nothing more important or harder to find than a quarterback and you can’t pass up the chance to have that for Quentin Groves. If Quinn sucks which a lot of quarterbacks do then you just f’d up your franchise. If he Anderson got lucky, why doesn’t this happen more often to other quarterbacks?

Joey, I know you know much more about this than me and I will gladly be wrong.

If not for the recievers he would have had a completion percentage between 50 and 52 percent. Wit the recievers the last 8 games he was 55%. Teams figured him out with the bad accuracy and he had 12 interceptions the last eight games.

Lots of QBs are one year wonders. Kordell Stewart, Neil Odonell, Tommy Maddox, Tim Couch, Trent Dilfer the list goes on.

Anderson's trade value is high right now. If you try him out another year and he doesn't look good then you won't get much in return for him.

Is a mid 1st rounder the most you see anyone giving up for him? There are some pretty QB needy teams out there.

Losing out on the picks is the risk I would be willing to take. The opinion I value most is probably Phil Sims. He does radio in New York a lot. He always liked Derek Anderson so I don’t think it’s a fluke. He called it before he played.

Dilfer was good when he was younger and after that solid up until last year with the niners. So that wasnt one year. Stewert had a few solid years and 2 Pro Bowl years so lets say 4 year wonder. Couch was definately one year. O'donnell was too old for me to remember.

Stewart went to the Pro Bowl once in 2001. He started 13 more games after that. He only had one year when he threw more than 15 TDs, and he didn't even make the Pro Bowl that year.
