Matt McGuire's Pre-Draft Analysis: Green Bay Packers and New York Giants

I like your analysis on both teams, but minor things on each.
Packers: I think they brought in Brandon Chillar for the express purpose of replacing Poppinga, or at least pushing him.
Giants: If they keep Shockey, there's no way they draft a TE. They have an upper Echelon TE in Shockey, and a rather good one in Boss.- Also known as Dan.

Yeah. I think they like Boss enough that they'll get rid of Shockey and draft a guy like Craig Stevens in the 5th-6th rounds. Boss is a pass catching TE, not so much a blocking TE.- Also known as Dan.

As a previous poster mentioned, Brandon Chillar was brought in so LB will not be address early by Ted Thompson. Also, I don't see them address DT in the first two rounds; why trade away Corey Williams and then draft another DT with the pick you got in return? As far as drafting a tight end, I really like Cal's Craig Stevens and think he'd be a nice compliment to Donald Lee. I am a big fan of Antwaun Molden and hope the Packers use one of their second rounders on him. First round I am not quite sure on but if Merling falls then I would love to have him.

Hey Matt, nice write up! Good ideas about the TE also. I don't think Reese will trade Shockey, but if he does, that is likely angle that no one saw coming, drafting Davis or another TE.
Many might be surprised that you did not mention drafting a CB... but I don't think they will unless an amazing value is still on the board. They will not reach for a corner. Madison has another solid year left. Ross and Webster and Dockery are all young and should continue to improve. So it is not as big of a need as others make it out to be.
My only criticism of your post is your last paragraph about the rookies.... how can you leave Ahmad Bradshaw out of the list?!?! He was HUGE for the Giants in the postseason... hopefully that as just an oversight and you can edit the article and include Bradshaw.
Other than that, I think this is a great write up.NY Giants fan since birth.

The Giants draft analysis safety a-side is pretty off sorry to say. How many times does Jerry Reese need to come out and say Shockey will go nowhere unless we get an offer we can't turn down, which is a first round pick and possibly more. Shockey is not only a great vertical threat, but is an excellent blocker as well, and a much better blocker than Kevin Boss.
Fred Robbins has held down the NT position very well on the Giants the last 4 years now and I don't see that changing.
The Giants are most likely to pick OLB, CB, S in any order with the 1-3 picks, and 4-6 are likely to involve WR, OG/,C and possiblya DE, and another couple of players of which I have no idea of course.
