There were Fleury haters? Beyond internet trolls, of course. Those don't count, as that's basically mindless drunken shouting between porn sessions. A vast majority of the fan base lamented losing him, as both he and Murray are very good with some injury issues. One kinda covered the other, but they were forced to choose between the two. So they went with the younger, cheaper option. Living close to the Burgh now, I can assure you that Fleury was and still is widely respected, his inconsistent younger days behind him. As far as Vegas potentially winning the cup, I think it raises some questions. Mainly, should an expansion team be able to cherry pick a championship team like that? I get that it's good for business, but it just seems off.

Oh and Bell? Whatever happens, happens at this point. I've heard mixed reports. So we'll see. The Dude abides.

Living not at all near Pittsburgh, my only barometer is comments and questions in the Post Gazette. Before the Pens won the Cup this last time around, he was HATED. Always choked in the playoffs, couldn't be relied on, needed to be replace etc. Whoever the other goalie was (I forget now) was always more popular, and should be the guy the team moved forward with. I always felt the vitriol was excessive., and the team had bigger problems than Fleury. With the Vegas thing, while I can see why they allowed it to happen, anytime the NHL makes a good decision I'm surprised and I don't think this was a good decision. What is the fascination with Vegas anyway? I get LA, though I don't like it, but Vegas baffles me.

Like I said, I'll believe Bell leaves right after the ink dries on his contract with another team. However, the guys at the PG insist he's outta there. As much as they carry water for the Steelers, I admit they are far more plugged in than I am. The only thing I can figure is the team is holding onto this lineup with both hands in hopes of squeezing one more ring from Ben's run, while wisely not being willing to blowup their cap by overpaying Bell (by A LOT imo).

        • NFL Draft in Nashville next year? Okay. I would have gone with Pittsburgh or Cleveland if they wanna go with a smaller market, but that's just me.

          • Comments or writers in the PG? Local media tends to have a hate boner for random players in every market. Part of what drove Kessel out of Toronto. No, Fleury wasn't the main issue there.

I would love the draft in Pittsburgh. They have no shortage of venues. Traffic would be awful though. Like, worse than usual, even.

Mostly comments on articles and guys asking questions in weekly chats at the PG.

No idea what traffic is like in Pittsburgh, but I can't imagine it would be that bad. Putting the draft there certainly couldn't ruin traffic as much as the SB in NOLa, where traffic is a giant cluster anyway because you can't turn left.

Pittsburgh traffic is messy, especially with the annual PA road construction. Lots of main routes tend to get smashed together and require some tough merges to get where you want to go. It takes some getting used to the unique terribleness, so a lot of Pitt noobs may have some issues. It's a wonderful town otherwise though, so bring it on.

Yeah, when it comes to comments and chats and stuff, the fan-dumb tends to take over. It happens.

Haha. As I recall, the reporters just couldn't get enough of posting questions from people asking if the team should move Shazier to safety. I wonder what the favorite dumb question to be posted ad nauseum will be this year?

Asking about ILBs. Crying about Artie Burns and wanting him cut though he's not awful. Then being perfectly willing to give Sean Davis extra chances. Lots of Iron City being consumed before typing. Probably some whining about Bell as well. I'm honestly over that situation though.

                      Moving Watt inside?

There was already some of that, but that would open up a massive hole at the other OLB spot which is a no-no to a lot of fans.

Nashville isn't a terrible distance. Actually thought about hitting a Stanley Cup final down there last year, as tickets were much cheaper than what they were in Pittsburgh.

If they have it downtown (which is what I assume they'll do, since that's what they did with the jersey announcement thing) my soon to be mother in law's house is literally within walking distance, so as long as I can keep that day (and probably the next morning) free on my calendar and it's not insanely expensive, I am not missing it.
