  • TB Bucs - QB

I can't get my head around you calling Brohm at 20 to the Bucs. I agree that Brohm is solid and has 1st rd value, but I can't see, more correctly don't want the Bucs going QB at 20. Garcia can be the starter for 08 and 09, yes he will miss games thats why they pickedup Griese, though I like McCown better as the 2. It looks like there will still be value at QB in the 3rd and 4th rds where they can get Flacco, Woodson, Booty, etc. The Bucs need a playmaker to support Galloway. The challenge is that the WR crop is all suspect at 20, based on the speculation on the web, unless they can get one of the top 3 wideouts on their board, I think they need to look at corner. It looks like the corner class is 10 deep, you don't have to look at many boards to see that 3-10 are going all over the place in various orders. Jenkins, Talib, Flowers, Potter, King and Cason all appear to have more value than any of the WRs outside the top 3-4. Thomas, Sweed, and Hardy have the size TB needs in the redzone, and Jackson is explosive. I feel better about the CBs because there are fewer question marks, but again its a deep class a couple of the guys I listed will be there in rd 2, none of the WRs will make it that far. My main point is that Tbay needs to stay on top of the division while the cats and birds rebuild. Gruden wants a vetern QB. A top wideout adds more playmaking to the O a CB continues the great job they are doing transitioning vs rebuilding the D.
    My 2 cents. GO BUCS!

The two things the Bucs need are a WR and CB. This class is really deep at both positions. I think Brian Brohm presents too much value at No. 20 for the Bucs to pass up, similarly to how Green Bay had to take Aaron Rodgers in '05

Why pass up on a possible great QB for a WR or CB in the first when you can get one of equal quality in the 2nd onwards.

Like I said, I agree with the value associated with Brohm. However the weakness of the NFC South gives the Bucs a window they need to exploit, meaning they need 1st and 2nd round picks that are going to play. If they want to develop a young QB they have Simms, who before injury was developing well. A wideout or CB at 20 is going to compete for a starting position, ideally they get one of each with the 1st two picks. If he is potentially so good how does the Vikings or Bears pass on him, Carolina should be in the mix as well with that logic. There are 3-4 teams in front of the Bucs with bigger QB issues.

I think Simms is done. I don't think he makes the team, regardless of whether or not TB drafts a QB.

The question I have is, will the Vikings pick him up when TB finally let's the kid loose?

You are kidding yourself by saying Brohm is comparable to Rodgers.

Rodgers was a top ten quarterback. Brohm is a second round QB.

              BIG difference.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.

You are kidding yourself if you think Andre Woodson is going to be a decent NFL QB.

                  I agree,

Matt, where did you have Brohm rated last year?

lol. why would they draft brohm in rd 1 when they could get colt brennan, who is a perfect fit for a gruden-run west coast offense later on?
i mean he played at Hawaii, you can't get any more wester-coast than that.

I think the Bucs will not even get a chance to pick Brohm unless they trade up.

I think they will try to trade down and out of their pick, but if they can't I would have to think wide receiver.

They might just go BPA if a guy like Keith Rivers falls to them.
