Well what are the five biggest surprises in the NFL? Well I have a few.
1) Chargers Offense- Well Norv's defensive coordinator's coaching sucks which consistantly gives the offense bad field position and he is trying to have Quarterback Philip Rivers be a player he is not ready to be. While trying to push Rivers he neglects his horse. Running Back Ladanian Thomlinson is the best runner since the prime of Marshall Faulk and he can not get into a rythum because he doesn't get the ball. With those two being used incorrectly their offense will continue to cease production.
2) New Orleans Offense- Overconfidence? Dropped passes? To be honest I am really not sure what the problem is and neither do the so called experts. Every one seems to have a different opinion. One thing has to be the Defense. It really puts the offense in a bad spot on the field. Another is WR Devry Henderson. He drops too many passes. Joe Horn wasn't a typical #1 naturally (Speed, athletic ability, etc) but he could pull in a ball from almost anywhere. He fit that offense well and was a good leader for a young recieving core. Three the quarterback is getting impatiant after the fist game that they were dominated by the Colts defense. These are a few reasons but they seem to have a few more they need to address as well.
3) Packers Start- Many knew the Packers would have a formatable defense but I did not expect their offensive line or recievers to play as well as they have. A.J Hawk is leading an athletic and smart defense that can all go sideline to sideline and hit like a ton of bricks. They also have a great secondary led by their Corners. Brett Favre looks like it's 1996, he is playing with the enthusiasm we had grown to love from him again and leading this team the way he did in his prime.
4) Derek Anderson- Who the heck is this guy. Five poor starts in three years and he thinks he is Dan Marino. Well he doesn't have that awareness that Marino did which leads to him turning the ball over but the guy has a great arm and is accurate. He has earned his spot in this league, time will see if he keeps that spot.
5) Texan's Defense- Houston set their base last year with MLB DeMeco Ryans and DE Mario Williams. Ryans was a beast last year as a rookie but Williams was never healthy. Now with key additions of men like DT Amobi Akoye the defense has other teams talking. This good season is just the beginning of what could be one of the best units in the league for years in my opinion. If they keep up their play the Texans may sneak into the playoffs.
Honorable Mention: Chargers Defense (Bad), Browns Offense (Good), Brett Favre (Good), Colts Defense (Good).
I did not include the Bear's Defense because it is only flopping due to injury, and Tony Romo because I felt one bad play is not making you a bad player that will Surprise people.
