Strahan to Seriously Retire?

Is there any update on whether or not he is going to retire I haven't heard anything but who knows maybe I just missed it

Yeah hes only got the single season record for sacks, 13 Pro-Bowl/All-star appearances, been NFL and NFC defensive player of the year on 3 occasions, 5th all-time in sacks recorded but isn't worthy of a HOF?

Michael Strahan is one of the most popular members of the team amongst his peers. The only person he never saw eye to eye with was Tom Coughlin and that may have changed. Cedric Benson doesn't deserve to be mentioned alongside Strahan.

He didnt earn the single season sack record, favre laid down for him. Thats similar to feeling up your sister and bragging to your friends that you got some. Player of the year is more of a name recognition than anything to do with stats, and there is more to playing defense than sacks. He will probably get in anyways. I also never said he wasnt good, or better than the bears DE's when he was in his prime, but at this point in his career he is not really worth mentioning.

Based upon an overrated stat, sure. I'm just hoping it comes out that he and roger were using together, and also had an affair. **** both of them.

you are right though, he is a lock, just like chris long #1 in the draft was a lock.

I too think he is a lock to make it even with an "overrated stat" being the main reason why. He has been dominating OTs and getting to QBs consistantly for years. Not an easy thing to do over a long period of time.

I say sacks are overrated because there are teams with garbage OL's, so its not much of an accomplishement going against philly's o line twice a year. Plus coverage contributes to sacks along with having talent beside you to draw double teams and/or help. I would feel better about him in there if he had some outstanding tackle totals (complete player) and more fumbles forced/recovered. Mark anderson will be top 10 in sacks when his career is through, but he is a 1 dimensional player who benefits from harris/wale/brown also being on the line.

Did you just say Mark Anderson will be top 10 in sacks when his career is through? Ok... I couldn't find the stats for the top 10 all time players in sacks but 1) Bruce Smith 200 2) Reggie White 198 3) Kevin Greene 160 sacks.

Anderson has what 17 after 2 season. I don't see him getting over 100 sacks unless he sticks around without injuries and a constant motor for over 10 years as a starter in the NFL.

They tried to start him last year, he cant play the run. Put him as a specialist (like his rookie year) and he will put up 12-15 per year. 8 years gives him around 100, close to top10 ish.

The main point was you dont have to be a hall of famer to put up big sack numbers.

I'm obviously missing something. He was an everydown player bar the first couple of weeks because only because he wasn't fit enough to last the pace because he had been sitting out instead of being in the gym and on the field during the summer so was a bit rusty.

He has more sacks than Lawrence Taylor as well.
