  • Scout.com 2009 Mock Draft

The layout for the mock is really pretty but it contains two instant fails in my book: Tim Tebow, and Dallas winning Super Bowl.

-I also don't think Parcells will draft a RB in the top-10.
-LeSean McCoy to Eagles is kind of dumb.
-I just don't see George Selvie as a LE.
-Minnesota at 28 is wow, and then adding another Percy Harvin is another wow.

    Holy crap.

Matt Stafford looks like a young version of my uncle. That is FRIGHTENING.

I hate this "Brodie Croyle hasn't worked out" thing. Give him at least a full year to start and a full offseason as the starter. I'm not saying that he will succeed, but I'm just saying not to write him off so damn quickly.

In six attempts, he hasn't won a single game. My real issue with him is that he has ZERO durability. He's been injured a lot in his short time in the NFL.

I understand the negative perception because he is off to a bad start, but to say he "hasn't worked out" is ludicrous after six games.

            - Stafford is too high
            - Selvie will be an Outside Linebacker or a 4-3 Combo End/Linebacker
            - Why is TE Travis Beckum so high?
            - OT Phil Loadholt is too high
            - OT Max Unger should not be in the first round
            - Tim Tebow #1 Overall...

Best pick in that mess is #24 Duke Robinson to Pittsburgh.

He's off to a horrific start. Not a bad one. But my real issue is that he always seems to be injured.

You let one of the best guards in the last decade go and don't replace him. Then you sign your franchise quarterback to an 8 Year, $120 Million Dollar contract and don't get anyone to protect him on a now average offensive line. Now you have the chance to replace that great guard with a guy that has the potential to be just as good if not better you do it. Defense is a need but not as big as protecting that HUGE contracted quarterback.

Percy Harvin would be the absolute perfect pick for the Vikings...

The rest of the mock was solid also.

I agree, though I think they are now in bottom 5 for offensive lines.

I don't have that big a problem with Matt Stafford going that high because he has the upside and he's competent. Teams covet the rocket lazor arm.

                        Ha!

The Ravens and Browns fans talking about how to make the Steelers BETTER!!! That is rich!!

We will be FINE up front.

                        1. LT Marvel Smith is back to full strength, after recovering from back surgery to repair his herniated disk (limiting him to 12 games last year, and forcing him to play through debilitating pain)

                        2. Smith, when healthy, was our best O-lineman, not Faneca

                        3. Faneca's production was slipping, and he will be replaced with a guy who has been with the team for 3 years -- and is now ready to start

                        4. Hartwig is a major upgrade over Colon at center -- this net positive outweighs the loss of Faneca

                        5. With a major restocking of the skill positions - a healthy Parker and the additions of Mendenhall and Sweed - will mean Ben won't have to hold on to the ball as long as he did last year -- a rarely discussed contributing factor to the sacks he took.

The STEELERS will win the AFC North in 2008, because no one else can take it from us.

The BROWNS have far more to worry about, including how to improve on a 1-9 record against the Steelers since 2003 (3-16 since returning to the league).

The RAVENS need to find a QB that we can't use as a punching bag anymore. Maybe if they squeezed Kyle Boller, Troy Smith and Joe Flacco together really hard - they could come up with Kordell Stewart!!!!

                        ------------------------------------------------
Ray Lewis has suffered enough, Commissioner Paul Tagliabue of the National Football League said in a conference call yesterday in explaining why he did not suspend the All-Pro linebacker who pleaded guilty to obstructing justice in a murder case.

''It's the courts who have the primary responsibility in this case,'' Tagliabue said. ''We're not a substitute for the courts.''

''The offense was a misdemeanor; he had no problems before that and hadn't violated league policies,'' Tagliabue said of Lewis's guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing justice in a deal with Atlanta prosecutors, who dropped murder charges against the Ravens star.

No kidding. He needs at least another year.

Lol, that sucks for you. Marvel Smith is mediocre.

Alan Faneca is easily the 2nd or 3rd best OG in the game.

Justin Hartwig got released from the Panthers. It wasn't because they thought he was was too awesome to play on their o-line.

The Ravens don't need a QB because it takes 3 of your linemen to even stop Haloti Ngata. Defense wins championships and all the Ravens really need is for Troy Smith to manage the game. If you honestly think that Justin Hartwig outweighs the loss of Alan Faneca than you need to hook me up with whatever it is you are using.

I've seen Stafford on campus a couple of times. Dude looks like a huge...doofus in real life. You kind of do a double take because you think that can't be him, the big football star, but, yeah, it is. Definitely got the Jay Cutler doofus look going.

As for the mock, I would crap myself in glee if Atlanta got Oher.

Knowshon to Denver? I see Torain working out, but I guess if Travis Henry ends up busted again, then Knowshon + Torain would be one SICK backfield, especially in Denver.
