  • > Falcons move Brooking back to outside linebacker

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/post/Fa...F?urn=nfl,81963

Five-time Pro Bowl linebacker Keith Brooking has been moved to his natural weakside spot after spending most of the past three seasons playing middle linebacker out of necessity. Second-round draft choice Curtis Lofton is at middle linebacker, along with second-year Georgia product Tony Taylor.

Brooking has been candid about his preference to play in space as an outside linebacker but the switch might not be permanent.

"We've said from the very beginning that we're going to cross-train all of our guys," Atlanta coach Mike Smith said. "Curtis can play outside linebacker, too. Keith's natural position and the position he's probably had the most success in the league has been at 'Will' linebacker."

yup. confirmation on what I said back in january. Brooking is going to be much better at WLB than he was at MLB. his biggest problem is shedding blocks from C's and OG's, making WLB better for him because he has to only shed from TE's and FB's.

The falcolns, if a few of their defensive players in the secondary and defensive line step up, could have a decent defense this year.

They might. They still won't get over 6 wins, however.

it just made too much sense, Brooking had been struggling at MLB and isn't a good fit there. we have the makings of a good D. we just need a NT to really round it out.
