John Brown's Horse Racing Blog - The Preakness Longshots
Also that Beyer stat John refers to was invented by Andy Beyer... I mentioned his book before, "Picking Winners." That was pretty good and I recommend it.
ysuallthetime is awesome...I wish I heard this **** on espn. I love Hammerin Hank, but I want more quality horse racing analysis (and in other sports).
Great blog, I hope this is a mainstay on the site as well with horse racing/betting theory so noobs like me can learn more.
By the way, what is a speed rating? I don't get it.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.
It's a way of determining the horses speed. Factors are the distance of the race, where the horse finishes and the time. The Beyer speed rating in legit. It's in every thoroughbred race program in the country. I would suggest reading this web site: http://www.drf.com/products/beyers/beyers.html
