Well, Mike Nolan knew the Ravens pretty well because he coached them. Plus the Niners' defense is pretty good. I think the Ravens should be able to handle the Rams at home.

I'm in a reverse survivior pool where you have to pick the loser each week. My buddies and I have a team and we have 2 picks left so here's my proposed locks:

    Vikings to Lose at Chicago
Rams to Lose at Baltimore (BTW, I'm a Niner fan and the ravens really didn't impress me against an average to below average Niner team so this pick scares me).
Miami to Lose at Cleveland (Another risky pick as I think this game will be decided by 3 points)
Oakland to Lose at San Diego (I hate the Raiders and I hate taking any kind of a rivalry game...I wish someone could explain how the spread is SD -10...isn't this to high or is Oakland overated early on in the season?...probably will stay away from this one).

    You gotta love the stress!

I just have a feeling the Rams will score a few points next week. If the best Baltimore can do is 3 field goals....

Plus with Trent Green being out, I'm not even sure Miami will win those 2 games you predicted.

So you trust Cleveland more than Baltimore?

Both games make me nervous. I'd almost lean towards Cleveland a little bit.

Any thoughts you guys have on this week's survivor pick would be great.

The Ravens are the choice right now, but I hate their offense. The Rams suck out of their dome, and I have no faith in Gus Frerotte on the road. Still, the Ravens are going against a powerful trend and their own inept offense.

Bringing this over from the Week 5 Thread:

One thing we have to decide is if we want to use NE or save them for later. This is the rest of their home schedule. Let's see where we can use them in the future:

Week 8: NE over WASH - yes
Week 12: NE over PHI - yes
Week 14: NE over PIT - no
Week 15: NE over NYJ - div game; no
Week 16: NE over MIA - div game; no

    OK, what about Indy?
Week 9: INDY over NE - hell no
Week 11: INDY over KC - hell yes
Week 13: INDY over JAX - no
Week 16: INDY over HOU - div game; no
Week 17: INDY over TEN - div game; no

    What about TEN?
Week 8: TEN over OAK - yes (same week as NE over WAS)
Week 9: TEN over CAR - yes (though I'd rather not cuz Car always plays well as a dog)
Week 10: TEN over JAX - div game; no
Week 13: TEN over HOU - div game; no
Week 14: TEN over SD - maybe
Week 16: TEN over NYJ - maybe

    Might as well do HOU:
Week 7: HOU over TEN - div game; no
Week 11: HOU over NO - maybe
Week 14: HOU over TB - no
Week 15: HOU over DEN - probably not
Week 17: HOU over JAX - div game; no

    And WAS:
Week 7: WAS over ARZ - maybe
Week 10: WAS over PHI - div game; no
Week 13: WAS over BUF - probably
Week 14: WAS over CHI - maybe
Week 17: WAS over DAL - div game; no

    Analysis:

We can use NE Weeks 5, 8 and 12.
We can use INDY Weeks 5 and 11... so if we don't use them this week, we have to use them Week 11.
We can use TEN Weeks 5, 8 and 9.
If we don't use HOU this week, we may never will.
We can use WAS Weeks 5, 13, and maybe 7 and 14.
We can use SD Weeks 15 and maybe 8. We don't have a 15 yet, so this works out well.

Forget about using NE Week 12. We have some nice options like JAX over BUF and NYG over MIN.

So, if we use NE Week 5, we can take TEN Week 8 or 9, and INDY Week 11.

So, if we don't use the Chargers here, we have to use them Week 15 or maybe 8.

When can we use San Diego again?

    Home Games:

Week 8 vs. Houston - maybe
Week 10 vs. San Diego - no
Week 12 vs. Baltimore - no
Week 15 vs. Detroit - possibly
Week 16 vs. Denver - divisional game so no

I really don't want to play a divisional game, but I'm not sure about Cleveland, and Baltimore has been so shaky.

started a topic Week 6 Survivor Pick

    Week 6 Survivor Pick

Seattle over Tampa won in Week 1.
Chicago over Kansas City won in Week 2.
Pittsburgh over San Francisco won in Week 3.
Dallas over St. Louis won in Week 4.
New England over Cleveland won in Week 5.

In case you don't know what this is, you need to pick a team to just win each week. If that team wins, you stay alive. If that team loses, you're out. You can't pick the same team twice.

    These are guidelines I use:

    1. Never pick road teams
    2. Never pick a bad team
    3. Stay away from public plays
    4. Never pick a team that could either be looking ahead or behind
    5. Never pick divisional games

    Getting tougher now...

The 13 home teams in Week 6 are (excluding ones I picked):

    Kansas City
    Jacksonville
    Cleveland
    NY Jets
    Baltimore
    Tampa Bay
    Green Bay
    Arizona
    San Diego
    Atlanta

Knocking the bad teams off, we have:

    Jacksonville
Cleveland - is Cleveland a bad team? Not sure.
    NY Jets
    Baltimore
    Tampa Bay
    Green Bay
    Arizona
    San Diego

    Eliminating divisional games, we have:

    Cleveland
    NY Jets
    Baltimore
    Tampa Bay
    Green Bay
    Arizona

    Cleveland playing Miami, possibility
    NY Jets playing Philadelphia, eliminate
    Baltimore playing St. Louis, possibility
    Tampa Bay playing Tennessee, eliminate
    Green Bay playing Washington, eliminate
    Arizona playing Carolina, eliminate

    We've narrowed it down to:
    Cleveland over Miami
    Baltimore over St. Louis

Damn, only two options, so I'm going to throw San Diego over Oakland on there.

    We've narrowed it down to:
    Cleveland over Miami
    Baltimore over St. Louis
    San Diego over Oakland

    Teams looking ahead:
    Browns have bye Week 7
Ravens play Bills, no look ahead
    Chargers have bye Week 7

We've now narrowed it down to (in this order):
    Baltimore over St. Louis
    Cleveland over Miami
    San Diego over Oakland

We don't know what the public is betting on yet.

OK, so what do you guys think? What's the strongest team we can choose out of those three?
Working...
