WFB Comments on Vikings @ Steelers Game Rigging
PuppyPuncher:"It sure was nice enough of Roger Goodell to let the refs from Ark-Florida officiate the Vikings-Steelers game"
NoNonsenseCoach:"As a Steelers fan living in Pittsburgh I can still admit that tripping penalty was a complete ghost call."
Simonds:"The tripping call was awful, yes, but there were a number of other absurd calls that went against the Vikings, including a DEFENSIVE delay of game penalty against the Vikings only called after a failed attempt to convert a third and 2 by the Steelers. Even the commentators were utterly floored that the refs made that call."
Wraith36444:"A shady tripping call on Minnesota essentially gave the game to the Steelers. The Vikings were the better team, but it is too hard to beat a decent team and the refs. Oh and Harvin is the man."
MaineMan:"I have to agree that it was an awful call and that it changed the outcome. Overall a great game by the Vikes and tragic that the well-deserved victory was stolen away like that."
PaddyPatriot:"I've seen this play and I have to agree, I can't believe they called it tripping"
Johndoe:"You know the officiating is bad when a Steeler's fan, like myself, thinks it was pretty bad."
Steelers_Pens_Fan:"I will admit that the whole "tripping" thing probably shouldn't have been a flag."
ZN0rseman:"It's great to know that good old fashioned pro football game rigging is still alive and well in America."
Klunker18:"I'm with Z on this one. Definitely one of those games that makes you wonder if the NFL wants certain teams to win."
TRICKaz"I agree that was a BS call"
InjuredReserve:"Have yet to hear anyone say it was the right call. Seems as if the Vikings were cheated a bit."
Eagles4Life:"Coaches just need to be able to challenge penalties"
EL_Guapo:"The tripping call was bad, the delay of game was stupid Either way, the Vikings showed they are a top team."
        EllijayFalconsFan:"The tripping penalty was rediculous."
Archon095:"Even as a Steeler fan I agree that the call was bull."
BroncosCon:"I'm sorry that was a total bull**** call and it changed the outcome of the game. Pittsburgh still won, but it was almost like Denver winning at Cincy."

Tony Dungy:"The Vikings are just one bad tripping penalty away from being undefeated.
Jon Gruden:"That was just a bad, bad call. It cost the Vikings an important win at Pittsburgh, and it could really hurt them in the post season."

You know what, this division ****ing blows. When it came to LB's, Secondary and ST's it was a serious case of lesser of four evils. I know it sounds crazy to have the Pat's LB core as an "evil", but this unit is ancient and Mayo is a "good" linebacker prospect not the ****ing messiah. Everyone thinks that just because he's going to bellifag and the Pats that he should already be enshrined in the linebacker hall of fame. Should be noted that the Bills were a close second in a bunch of categories (I'm very high on Lynch when he isn't getting DWI's), and pretty much every category was virtually a tie between 2 or more teams.

Nah, Faulk was the variable there. He's invaluable to the Patriots, and his receiving abilities bailed them out in crucial third downs in 2007 and in years prior.

If we were going on starting backs alone and injuries weren't a concern it'd be..1) Lynch 2) Brown 3) Maroney 4) Jones

that RB one was tough, because it's hard to distinguish the running backs from the running game and the Pats OL has so much to do with their success. maroney + average OL = mediocre

Faulk and Sammy Morris are both in their 30's. It's hard to imagine them being relevant much longer, and I have my doubts about them in 2008.

I'm not saying Faulk is gonna rack up big numbers. I'm just saying he's an X Factor type who brings another dimension to the Patriots, as well as experience and clutch play ability. Faulk's role on the team doesn't need a 4.4 40 time or the young, durable legs of a lead back. I mean, it's not like Belichick is known for getting the most out of veterans in the twilight of their careers or for scheming so acutely to a player's specific skillset that it minimizes his flaws or anything

that being said, I already mentionedthat the Pats got the nod by a whisker. and pretty much the only reason why is because I go by the dictum that to be the king you must unseat the king. And for me Lynch and the Bills look set and ready to explode offensively and they're everybody's sexy pick (if the Bills can in fact be sexy) to have a big year on the offensive side of the ball, but they haven't done it yet. In this case the tie goes to the champ but I think/hope that Lynch will have a monster year

Lol, this division has very good linebackers. Buffalo have a great LB corpse, The Pats a good one, the Jets pretty good as well. The Dolphins' is average, but there are a lot worse in the league.

The Bills LB unit could be very good. Crowell is a stud, but Poz needs to come back from his injury and return to the level of play he showed before he went down. Mitchell is an immediate upgrade at Will, but he isn't much more than serviceable. The Jets having a good unit is also based on conjecture. In the middle Barton is aging but still solid, if not spectacular, and Harris is a future NFL star but on the outside spots the unit being considered a good one relies on Gholston reaching his potential, which is always a question mark when it comes to workout warrior types, and Calvin Pace becoming the pass rushing threat he has been touted as since coming into the league.

I agree with you though, maybe I was hasty when I referred to the LB as an evil, but considering other divisions when it comes to choosing the top unit for a category you're usually spoiled for choice, but that definitely wasn't the case for the AFC East.

It was funny though in most cases it comes down to choosing between the Pats' ancient vets or another team's young stars looking to meet their potential.
