PuppyPuncher:"It sure was nice enough of Roger Goodell to let the refs from Ark-Florida officiate the Vikings-Steelers game"
NoNonsenseCoach:"As a Steelers fan living in Pittsburgh I can still admit that tripping penalty was a complete ghost call."
Simonds:"The tripping call was awful, yes, but there were a number of other absurd calls that went against the Vikings, including a DEFENSIVE delay of game penalty against the Vikings only called after a failed attempt to convert a third and 2 by the Steelers. Even the commentators were utterly floored that the refs made that call."
Wraith36444:"A shady tripping call on Minnesota essentially gave the game to the Steelers. The Vikings were the better team, but it is too hard to beat a decent team and the refs. Oh and Harvin is the man."
MaineMan:"I have to agree that it was an awful call and that it changed the outcome. Overall a great game by the Vikes and tragic that the well-deserved victory was stolen away like that."
PaddyPatriot:"I've seen this play and I have to agree, I can't believe they called it tripping"
Johndoe:"You know the officiating is bad when a Steeler's fan, like myself, thinks it was pretty bad."
Steelers_Pens_Fan:"I will admit that the whole "tripping" thing probably shouldn't have been a flag."
ZN0rseman:"It's great to know that good old fashioned pro football game rigging is still alive and well in America."

Tony Dungy:"The Vikings are just one bad tripping penalty away from being undefeated.

Maybe from a fantasy football standpoint, but that's only because the Vikings don't have a QB. Otherwise, I think they match-up quite well.

Are you kidding? Bernard Berrian is fast, but he is a poor route runner, has mediocre hands, and has never broken 1,000 yars a season. Sidney Rice looks like he'll be a solid, although not exceptional, pro. Who else is there? Bobby Wade?

Donald Driver is coming close to the end of his career, but he's still pretty good. Greg Jennings is an elite receiver in the making. James Jones did just as well as Sidney Rice, and he's their #3 receiver. Jordy Nelson's mostly unknown, but he had what, 1,800 yards receiving this year at Kansas State? He was blowing past everyone in Big XII play, including Aqib Talib.

I'll give you 3 stars for the Vikings receivers, but Green Bay's an easy 4 star group.

Also, you're judging these receivers based on their stats and performances from last season. None of the Vikings (including Berrian) had a decent QB to throw them the ball. Meanwhile the Packers receivers were having the ball rocketed to them with tremendous experience and accuracy by a hall of famer in Brett Farve. So, I don't agree that the Vikings receivers are inferior to the Packers receivers, at least not with the addition of Berrian.

One question: Why are you guys all rating the Vikigns special team so poorly? Chris Kluwe and Ryan Longwell both upper tier kickers. They don't have an elite return man, but otherwise their special teams is solid. What gives?

Why is Berrian highly ranked? Why is he better than the well traveled, highly proven Donald Driver?

Answer? He isn't. He took 3 years to come online as a receiver, and he hasn't been anything special in this league. Admitted, he's had nothing but mediocrity and total crap at quarterback, but nothing's changing there in Minnesota, unless JDB steps on the field. His banner year was a 71 catch, 951 yard season, in 2007. He had four catches of 35 yards or longer. I thought he was supposed to be an elite deep weapon. Whoops.

And I'll predict that Jordy Nelson makes a decent splash for a rookie. Maybe 35 catches, 480 yards, 3 TD's.

Yeah dude, no. Driver less than Berrian? That's like me saying Grant>A.P. No way in hell. The only receiver on your team I like is Rice.

A couple of years ago, it would not have been a contest. Driver old now, he can't touch Berrian's speed, and the only thing keeping him at the top of the fantasy football standings was that fact that he's Farve's favorite receiver. Farve is gone... expect to see Driver's stats tank dramatically in 2008.

Also, there is a big difference between stats and performance. If you're talking fantasy stats... then yes, Driver is/was your man, just because Berrian was stuck in a terrible offense. Berrian is still (and always has been) in a drastically worse situation than Driver, but he will (and has) manage to put up good numbers just because of his own abilities. Driver on the other hand, put up great numbers but that had more to do with the talent around him, rather than his own abilities. Stats are easily compared and evaluated but are often meaningless when trying to measure actual ability.

Farve is gone... expect to see Driver's stats tank dramatically in 2008.
And Berrian has about 1/3rd of the route running and catching abilities of Driver.

Yeah, you're right Blaze... Berrian sucks, worst reciever in the NFL. I'd recommend him for the Canadian league, but he probably wouldn't cut it there. The Vikings should sign Peter Warrick, I hear he's available.
