  • Green Bay Packer Preview

Just have a couple of bones to pick but everything else was right on the money:

    • Grant's good, but our RB stable isn't 4 stars. 3 sure, 4 no.

    • Secondary should at least be 3 stars.

    • Why can't Harris play in this league anymore? He let's his emotions get to him sometimes and only got embarresed once (Plaxico Burress). I think the only other game he had trouble was against TO. He has a year left.

    • I think the battle is Bigby/Rouse. Rouse isn't a FS. He doesn't have the ball skills or the range. We kept him at SS though some said he was an OLBer in the NFL. Collins is a lock at FS barring a horrible training camp. I think Rouse will take over for the hitman Bigby, though Bigby's exciting to watch.

Overall great job. I'm glad you mentioned our depth because we have a lot of that at O-Line, D-Line, WR, RB (You forgot to mention Deshawn Wynn!), QB (yes QB, though unproven), and LB.

burress embarrassed everyone he came up against last year.
i watched the replay of the championship game and found myself saying, man he and eli are just playing out of their freaking tree. the guy was catching balls one-handed with harris hitting his hand and still making the grab. sure, he had like 11 catches, but he caught on woodson, bigby, collins, double coverage, it didn't matter. harris only gave up about 6 catches, and had the one cheap penalty on his int where burress ran into him and flopped on the ground.
so not that harris isn't declining, but he's not as bad as the rap he got from that game.
oh and allen barbre is probably going to start at LG, not junius coston. coston can't stay healthy. look for him to be traded or cut. talented, but not available enough to keep around.

What about Daryn Colledge? He was in our starting lineup last year, at least early on. He and Spitz started late in their rookie season together.

I don't see Barbre replacing Coston... Coston had minor injuries last season; not an ACL or anything.

At any rate, DAK, I never said Harris doesn't belong in the NFL anymore. I just said he's not starter material anymore.

        Glad you liked it though.

True, but I think that'll be more of a conversation for next year. What about Colledge? Come on people he was a decent prospect coming out of Boise State.

Be sure to check out my NFC North All Fantasy team. Coming up is the NFC East so stay tuned.

I'm too lazy... Edit it when ur near a computer. Also, guaranteed your topic will get less discussion without a link.

                  Good assessment Walter.

The record is fair because of Rodger's injury-ridden past. Brohm will take a year to get up to speed which will not help in the time of A-Rod going down.

On Harris, he was fine excluding guys that can jump over him. He's never been the athlete say C. Wood or play a Cover 2 but he's been able to make it up with his ability to press a receiver.

Ratings - I'd give a 5 for WR and 3 for LB. The 'backers (Hawk and Barnett namely) need to get the QB or at least get closer. They didn't blitz well this year. 5 for OL...I don't know. The tackles and Wells played out of their mind this year, especially Tauscher who had pass-blocking problems in '06. Guards...Coston played great before Grant exploded on the scene until he got hurt.

"but I don't get why so many people are penciling the Vikings in as NFC North champions."

Agreed. Indivduals don't win football games, and the addition of Jared Allen and having AP/CT can always be gameplanned around.
And now for something completely different

The Cleveland Brown's O-line make Derek Anderson and Jamal Lewis look good. Yet the Packer's O-line get 5 stars despite a questionable interior?

I'd give the Packers OL 4 stars. It is really solid, but I can't say it is elite. I just don't see enough athleticism at the guards or RT.
                      2014-2015 Kentucky Wildcats (38-1)

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.

                        agreed.

Or at least other teams should have 5 stars too then

                          Very good analysis Walter.

Pretty much agree with it all apart from about our corners.

Although it is a concern, i don't think it's as big as you made out. Sure Al Harris is getting on (as is Woodson) but he only really got burned by Plax in the play-off game and TO. Both two of the better recievers in the league. I'd expect him yo start dropping off soon but we have a few youngsters to groom.

I think they're close to elite, but the thing is, they have no holes, whereas Minnesota and Cleveland have one disaster area.

Tampa doesn't have any holes either, but we didn't get 5 stars...plus we are much more athletic at LG, RG, and RT.
