  • Jeremy Shockey Deal Update

The Giants would get the Saints' 2009 first-round draft pick if LB Jonathan Vilma plays in 85 percent of snaps this season and then goes on to sign an extension with the Saints.

Under that scenario, the Jets would upgrade to the Saints second-round pick which would in turn bump the Giants up to the first-rounder. The Saints fifth-rounder would fall out of the Giants deal if that happens.

    Wow this would be awesome.

I hope that Jonathan Vilma has a monster season. I know that the Giants are great with late round picks, but we've only done it once. It may have been a fluke.

Could they not go out and acquire another 2nd rounder?

I'm not positive on the conditional pick but I thought it would be for the Saints actual pick.

It will be really interesting if the Saints need to win games near the end of the season but surely they will just rotate Vilma as much as possible and then if they are in the playoffs or ot of contention they will bench him for the last couple of games.

"COACH! I SHOULD BE OUT THERE!"

            "I don't think so, we ain't giving up a 1st rounder!"

            "Oh well, alright then"

What does Vilma playing have to do with Shockey? Did they trade their 2nd round pick to the Jets if Vilma plays in more than 85% of snaps?

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.

if he's good, we'll make sure he's in there for 84 % of snaps.

                      Tannenbaum is an interesting GM.

He did a similar conditional based trade when the Jets traded Dewayne Robertson to the Broncos.

I believe if D-Rob gets 85% of the snaps on the Broncos they have to give the Jets a 2nd round pick in 09

Since it was a Conditional Pick to The Jets, it could still be traded, as long as there were stipulations adressing what to do if the conditions were met. Also, Jerry Reese was on WFAN, a NY Sports Talk Station, and he said that if The Vilma conditions were met, than The Giants got New Orleans 2010 1st Rounder, not 2009. He also said that he 100% believes that there is no way that The Saints will ever let that happen, meaning Vilma is either not getting re-signed, or they're gonna find a way to keep him out of 15% of each games' plays.

I also have a feeling that Vilma will not be playing 85% of defensive snaps.

I think the Giants will get that 2nd and 5th

and the Jets will get a 3rd when Vilma resigns in 09

                            That won't happen.
