  • Walter called Grossman as a bust when he was still a prospect

I was looking over the 2003 draft grades for some reason, and I saw thes exact words

Bad Moves: DE Michael Haynes, a 14th overall pick, will not even start. QB Rex Grossman will not be a good pro.
    Walter got PWN3D
    Rams GM

    Picks
    2. Jake Long, OT, Michigan
    33.Cliff Avril, DE, Purdue
    65.Tom Zbikowski, S, Notre Dame
    101.Tavares Gooden, LB, Miami
    137.Dennis Dixon, QB, Oregon
    168.Maurice Purify-WR-Nebraska
    180.Justin Forsett-RB-Cal
    217.

Wow, I forgot I wrote that.

Though, to be fair, I didn't think much of Carson Palmer because he took a long time to learn Norm Chow's system, so I was wrong about that.

They did bench Palmer for an entire season.

Vikes should have done it with Tavaris Jackson, who just wasn't ready and now he is a bust.

Cowboys did it with Tony Romo and look at how good he is now. Heck Brett Favre had to sit for awhile before he got to play.

Bottom line is it makes sense to bench players who just aren't prepared for the NFL.

Out of this next draft I think the most NFL ready player is Andre' Woodson because of the competition he faced in college and his football IQ, but he should still sit for most or all of his rookie year. I just think it is the smart thing to do until you develop the talent around the QB so he doesn't get his face pounded into the ground.

Grossman will go to another team for the cheapest price and be a decent backup maybe?? As long as he's not in a Bears uniform I'm happy

Grossman wouldn't be a bad backup. He's like Joey Harrington

Well, I think Charles Rogers had the most talent. He just got hurt, and then lost his work-ethic. No one saw this coming. Everyone loved Rogers coming out. But I admitted myself I got stuff wrong like the Palmer thing.
