  • Spread Offenses

This season there's been a bit of talk after some big teams went down that they couldn't deal with the spread offense, i.e. Michigan, Ohio State.

I understand the basic concepts of a spread attack, but can someone please explain why this might give some teams grief?

Then to take things another step, the spread offense doesn't seem effective in the NFL, why?

I feel like everyone else but me knows, they're just like, "Spread Offense, couldn't counter it." But no-one ever says why.

It wouldn't be effective in the NFL because the DL and LBers are much faster and they tackle much better than players in college.

It is an effective offense because so much must be accounted for by the defense, and weaknesses in gap assignments can be exposed very easily.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.
