Do you think/Should the Redskins retire Taylors jersey?
Almost four months after halting the shipment of Arizona Cardinals jerseys with the name "Tillman" on the back, the NFL is preparing to lift the restrictions placed on its manufacturers.
Pat Tillman #40. Yes they retired the number.
In this article it mentions a "Pat Tillman Freedom Plaza" was supposed to be opened in 2006 outside the Cardinals stadium. Anyone know if that's there?

Pat Tillman and Sean Taylor are definitely different situations. Pat Tillman died serving our country not to mention the fact of the government conspiracy to cover up that he was killed by friendly fire. Not all of the facts are out on Sean Taylor yet, but from his track record, I wouldn't be surprised if he was involved in some shady behavior that eventually led to his death (If you didn't see PTI yesterday, Mike Wilbon - who also writes columns for the Washington Post - said the same thing).
This doesn't mean that I don't think that Sean Taylor's death is not tragic b/c it is always tragic to lose a young man with such talent and potential as well as a father, brother, teammate but this is not a Pat Tillman situation either.
No - I don't think they retire his number - career not long enough - just honor him at all games this Thursday/Sunday - and the Redskins will wear a sticker on their helmet or patch on their jerseys.
Also, I'm not so in favor of retiring a guys number that spits in people's faces during a football game. It's a hars reality to say that and some may say it is disrespectful because he is dead but it is true.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.
I think it's a tough call. Hypothetically, if someone died during a game, I would lean towards retiring a number. But other than that, probably it should be reserved for players who contribute to the franchise over years and years.
