I decided to watch Season 1 of Lost again to catch what I could about the Adam and Eve theory.

When the Black Smoke Monster first scared the Losties, Rose said, "That sounds something really familiar." Someone asked her where she's from, and she said "The Bronx."

Well, that ties in to what that guy was saying about the Black Smoke Monster being John Jacob Astor IV's dog (the one in the painting in the shack).
