  • Gambling in Canada

Just went up to Canada for memorial day weekend to Gamble. I've been playing poker for years, dominate house games, and payed my first years college tuition without a loan because of online poker. I always wanted to know how I'd do in a real casino though so I finally went.

I went to Casino Niagra and played a $100 buy in $1-$2 blind table (only one they had). Wow, I couldn't believe how easy it was. They served free drinks which I of course didn't drink. I basically just focused and robbed a bunch of drunks. I lost $200 in blackjack which was stupid, but I left up $2200 after just 2 days of gambling.

Anyone else gamble, play poker or visit a casino before or on a regular basis?

I used to gamble a decent amount in college. I was OK at it. For some reason playing $100 NLHE scared me at casinos. Maybe because people played crazy and I was afraid to pick my spots and lose $100 because I needed the money. I played $1/$3 then $2/$4 Limit with $100 and probably lost a little more than I made. If I were working again I'd play $3/$6 limit.

I used to play online for fun I never made a ton of money. I probably made $500-$600 in the 4 years of college with online gambling.

I have friends who made $10,000s of dollars though. 1 guy I knew became a pro and is on TV from time to time in WSOP and large cash game events.

See, I'm the opposite. I can't stand limit because it you flop a set or top pair or something you can't protect you hand. People can chase their draws on you all day.

I plan on entering WOSP eventually. Not sure if I'll do the main event, but I'll do some of the smaller $5,000 and lower tournaments. I'm pretty sure I'll cash in at least one.

No I agree it's easier to make money in NL because people are crazier and don't realize how fast they lose their money to you.

Personally I never had the interest in refining my skills

I never got to play in a real poker tournament. I would love to try. I play a few different games like blackjack, let it ride, roulette, three card poker, and the texas hold’em table game. I always lose at let it ride, I win sometimes on the other ones. I probably only get to a casino about 3 times a year.

If I play Let 'em Ride, I play on bodoglife.com, you should check it out and play a practice game or soemthing, it's different than casinos.

I didn't play in a Tournament either, I will next time. They only have them Mon Tues Wed, and I went on the weekend.

i used to play poker hardcore but I found the game unprofitable after a while especially online.

The games I played at had some sick players and hwen the players are really tight it makes for difficult to be +EV.

Ya I find I have major swings online poker, for tourny players it can be a lot more profitable and less risky but I enjoy it still.

I played once at a casino in Miami. I won $180 my 1st night there. I left up money, it was simply beginners luck

I only play tournament poker online. They fix cash games for big pots to get a better rake, but in tournys you've already paid a flat fee.

I doubt that online games are fixed. I can't see how the companies could get away with that.
