Why does everyone like the Cubs they disappoint every year?

They are the cliche pick year after year I just have such a hard time seeing them win the division.

The Cubs are my only allegiance outside of Seattle. I've been a Cubs fan for a long time.

I'm on Mark Prior's nuts much like you are on Andre Woodson's. I wrote a preview on my blog last year, here is the Cubs one.

              2. Chicago- This pick hinges on one thing, Mark Prior's right arm. Prior's injuries have been rooted in his collision with Marcus Giles, since then he has rushed back from every injury, compensating for them physically along the way. He will start the season in AAA, but if healthy, should come back and tie down the #2 spot in the rotation. Ted Lilly was one of the most financially efficient deals of this offseason. There is a legitimate chance that Zambrano, Prior, and Lilly are all All-Stars. Alfonso Soriano signed a bad contract, but should remain productive this season. Jason Marquis should contribute some valuable innings.

With a healthy, effective Prior last year, sure, Sean Marshall and Rich Hill's roles would have been diminished, but eventually, Prior would have been better than Jason Marquis.

This season I predict a down year from either Hill or Marshall, a better year from Zambrano, the same thing from Lilly, and who knows what Jason Marquis will show up every 5 days.

I've followed Josh Hamilton a bit, after he was drafted #1 overall by the Rays (I have this weird thing with guys like that, Lenny Cooke, who most of you probably don't know, is one of those guys but a basketball player, as was Bobby Jenks). Well here's a little secret, he was a Rule 5 pick by the Cubs, and then traded to the Reds last year. Let me tell you, his .554 slugging percentage would have looked good in center or right field in Wrigley, injuries be damned.

I don't see the Cubs World Series this year. Don't get me wrong Buster Olney (the Patton Oswalt of Baseball), Tim Kurkjian (the Daniel Negreanu), Peter Gammons (ok, the Godfather), and Jason Stark (the Sonny Corleone) all seem to be drinking the Kool-aid to some extent. I hope they are right, but unless they can land a guy like Joe Blanton, Barry Zito, Daniel Cabrera (a little out of place, but he'd have success in the NL) or maybe Cliff Lee, they'll have an ugly, young rotation in a 5 or 7 game series.

                ALE Yankees
                ALC Tigers
                ALW Mariners
                Wild: Indians

Yes I have the boston Red Sox missing the playoffs!

                NLE Mets
                NLC Cubs
                NLW Dodgers
                Wild Diamondbacks

NLC is probably still weakest division and have to go with my Cubbies even though anyone can come from that division
