  • Piazza to retire after 16 years

Mike Piazza is retiring after becoming one of the top-hitting catchers in the hstory of the game. Congrats to a great career and you should be a HOFer down the road.

Who's next. There are speculations that this may be Pedro's last year

I'm a huge Mets fan, and Piazza is in my top 3 favorites all time. He is without a doubt the greatest offensive catcher in history, and it's a shame he couldn't learn how to play 1B, otherwise there is a good chance he'd still be a Met. I just hope when he goes to The Hall, he's sent in as a Met. Players aren't given the choice anymore, thanks to Dave Winfield taking $1M to go in as a Padre, and it's very close as to which team The Hall will choose for him. We already got burned with Gary Carter, who went in as an Expo. If Mikey goes in as a Met, I may make the trip up to Cooperstown.
